Fix Your Website’s Accessibility Issues: Hands-On Training with Accessibility Checker

The federal ADA Title II deadline for digital accessibility is April 2027, and Truman’s internal goal is to have all public-facing web content accessible before the Title II deadline. This hands-on, in-person workshop will help you get your WordPress site there.

We’ll start with a short walkthrough of the Accessibility Checker plugin by Equalize Digital, which is already active on Truman’s WordPress sites. You’ll learn how to read the accessibility summary on each page and post, understand what each flagged error and warning means, and tell the difference between issues you can fix yourself and ones that need help from ITS.

The rest of the session is working time. We have computers available already, so all you need is your login to your website, and we’ll go through your site’s flagged issues together—fixing missing alt text, heading order, link text, color contrast, tables, and other common problems right there in the editor. By the end, you’ll be able to run the checker on any page, fix what it finds, and keep your site accessible going forward.

Who should attend: anyone who edits or maintains a Truman website (webmasters, content editors, office staff). No technical background is needed.

What to bring: Your WordPress login. If you don’t have editor access to your site, let the instructor know before the session.
