Ready, Set, Click! Strategies for Success in the Online Classroom

Online – Blackboard

This workshop provides a collaborative experience in gaining the information and practice with strategies necessary for successful online teaching and learning.  If you are preparing to teach a fully online course, or just wishing to “blend” or “hybridize” a traditional course - this workshop will be helpful in identifying those issues that make the online classroom different and how to address them in ways to set yourself and your students up for a successful Truman experience.

 

This workshop is fully online - in the spirit of language immersion classes - participants will have the experience of being an online student while learning about online instruction strategies.  Participants should have an intermediate level of Blackboard knowledge.  If you need preliminary training, open hours for Blackboard training and Q&A are held the first Wednesday and Thursday of each month in MC 215 from 9:30-11:30am.   Blackboard administrator, Sherry Dare is also available for individual training sessions by appointment.

 

The Ready, Set, Click! course will take place over a time frame of seven weeks - from Monday, June 4th through Friday, July 20th .  This time frame includes  includes one week off during the week of the July 4^th Holiday and an “extra” week during which there is no new course work, but time for individual consults with your instructional design team if desired.

 

During most weeks, the workshop will have some elements of asynchronous, but interactive, collaborative activities which will involve the whole workshop cohort.  Other than these collaborative activities, participants will be able to proceed through the materials at their own pace. 

 

This workshop is one option which meets the Provost’s requirement for online certification – which must be met in order to teach a fully-online course here at Truman.   Successful completion of this workshop provides eligibility for a training stipend from the Office of the Provost.
